best invention…ever? we’ve all had a slice of something get destroyed in a to-go box that’s too big, which is why i can fully get behind to-go boxes specifically made for slices of pie. the thread ribbon is also a nice touch, you could easily attach a tag to it to indicate which flavor of pie it is for a quaint little gift.
if i owned a cafe or a bakery, then we would do this.

these blueberry muffins read my mind as to what i’d like to eat for a tea time snack. 4 months ago / 80 notes
since i discovered cake boss on netflix instant, my exposure to impressive cakes has gone from nil to wowzah. and sure, this little cake is likely far too simple (and small, for that matter) to ever be on that show, but it sure is pretty nonetheless. 12 months ago / 7 notes
i don’t know much about weddings or wedding planning. i don’t know much about wedding cakes and the various components that go into them, but i do know that this is the prettiest little wedding cake i ever did see!

a slice of birthday cake goes to my best friend, who turns 26 today.
his mother makes a mean chocolate cake, so if i were there i would make him a morning tea treat instead, like smitten kitchen’s clementine cake, that could be enjoyed with a cappuccino.
happy birthday bharat!
(…while looking for this recipe, i stumbled upon a martha stewart lemon cake recipe that is enough to make your mouth water by just looking at it.) 1 year ago / 0 notes
chocolate is for girls; heart-shaped watermelon is for girly girls. do valentine’s day right and hit up the natural sweets.

as a little girl, i used to think vanilla milkshakes were boring. this tendency followed me into my early-20s, when i’d use vanilla as an adjective for bland people.
‘she’s so vanilla.’
then i discovered the wonders of homemade ice cream using real vanilla bean and have since changed my mind. it’s yay ol’ time i find a new adjective because this word no longer connotes dullness.

fact: every girly girl must have a sweet little cake stand in her kitchen.
myth: cute little cake stands cost a lot. nope! cake domes are my favorite thing to give as wedding gifts — couples always register for them, they’re affordable and instantly beautify any kitchen.
i usually opt for glass ones, but this marie antoinette-blue one is charming as hell.

baby shower magic!
normally i find baby stuff to be a bit corny; however, if i was throwing a baby shower for one of my gal pals then i would hunt down this clever cookie maker and recruit them to make a bajillion of these bad boys (naturally so i can admire the leftovers).
given my catastrophic cookie decorating skills highlighted each christmas - santa always looks like a queasy tranny - i simply must know the secret behind the detail on those carriage wheels!

i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again, vanilla is b-o-r-i-n-g. which is why i imagine this to be a smoothie with greek yogurt and honey. maybe it’s dulce de leche. perhaps cafe au lait?
whatever it is, it’s not vanilla.
p.s. milkshakes don’t require a fork.

if this tasty looking strawberry tart were mine, i imagine wearing something vintage — either a buttercup yellow sundress with a sweetheart neckline and red nails, or black cigarette pants, a la audrey hepburn, with black-rimmed glasses, hair pinned back and a classic read in tow.

my gal pal swears by all things pink. while we may agree to disagree on favorite colors, i do enjoy the occassional feminine touch that pink tends to bring.
these kitchen appliances make me want to throw a girls only fancy breakfast, packed full of sweet treats and caffeinated beverages.
