best invention…ever? we’ve all had a slice of something get destroyed in a to-go box that’s too big, which is why i can fully get behind to-go boxes specifically made for slices of pie. the thread ribbon is also a nice touch, you could easily attach a tag to it to indicate which flavor of pie it is for a quaint little gift.
if i owned a cafe or a bakery, then we would do this.

fresh herbs are so magnificent; i wish our farmers market sold them. 11 months ago / 70 notes
since i discovered cake boss on netflix instant, my exposure to impressive cakes has gone from nil to wowzah. and sure, this little cake is likely far too simple (and small, for that matter) to ever be on that show, but it sure is pretty nonetheless. 12 months ago / 7 notes
market bounty currently includes bundles and bundles of bright green asparagus. the beauty of eating and cooking seasonally, at least part-time for the partially committed, is that there are heaps of amazing asparagus, radish and rhubarb recipes right now on food blogs.
i cannot wait for rainier cherries and tomatoes to re-enter my life. 12 months ago / 756 notes
talk about a taste bud teaser. it’s practically criminal to post a picture of such scrumptiously unavailable food as this; however, the good news is we’re in the homestretch to tomato season.

so close to tomato season i can taste it.

this french breakfast is exactly what the doctor ordered for me tomorrow. i’m going to treat myself to a nice cup of coffee and a croissant and consume them as slowly as possible to savor every last minute.
because let’s be honest, they are treats and should be treated (i’m punny) as such. 1 year ago / 178 notes
i doubt ms. taylor is chowing down on a veggie burger, but i’ll forgive her. one glance at that lovely ensemble and those devilishly brilliant eyebrows and you’re smitten.
perusing some of her obituaries, she’s referred to as a style icon, a great beauty and glamorous. just looking at the picture above you can see why.
i don’t mean to sound like a bitter grandpa, but celebrities just aren’t what they used to be. that’s probably due to things like the paparazzi; i highly doubt celebrities themselves have changed much, but more so the access we have to them. we all know vintage celebrities had indiscretions, went out in public with no make-up on, or *heavens to betsy* went to the beach wearing an unflattering swimsuit; however, there weren’t 400 photographers there to document it in pictures (for the most part).
photos then seemed more staged and intentional. so, instead of a drunken, sloppy elizabeth taylor, you have lovely pictures like this one where her nails are perfectly painted, napkin is placed exactly on the center of her lap and there isn’t a hair out of place.
yes, there’s something to be said for realism, but at the same time i think there’s a reason we all cherish old photos. perhaps it’s romanticizing an era that never existed?
as with anything, there’s an argument to made on both sides. in this case, at least the paparazzi’s candid photos of today’s “icons” acting good, bad and indifferent help us realize that they’re people too. even the rich and beautiful have problems; they’re not perfect. 1 year ago / 14 notes
fact: every girly girl must have a sweet little cake stand in her kitchen.
myth: cute little cake stands cost a lot. nope! cake domes are my favorite thing to give as wedding gifts — couples always register for them, they’re affordable and instantly beautify any kitchen.
i usually opt for glass ones, but this marie antoinette-blue one is charming as hell.

i know this is moderately non-traditional, but how adorable would her dress be for a destination wedding in a warm spot?
me thinks quite lovely…
