i don’t own a tv; i haven’t paid for cable in years, so needless to say i’m not a big television watcher. yet, whenever cake boss is on, i’m drawn to it like a moth to a flame. i like hearing words like fondant, butter cream and fogettaboutit regularly. that, and there’s something about the family that runs the bakery that i find warm, crazy and at the same time filled with folks that i’d like in my family. the show is set in hoboken, new jersey, and although i’m sure new jersey features many wonderful sites and treats, this bakery is the one i’d go to see. carlo’s bakery and i will meet someday. fact: every girly girl must have a sweet little cake stand in her kitchen. myth: cute little cake stands cost a lot. nope! cake domes are my favorite thing to give as wedding gifts — couples always register for them, they’re affordable and instantly beautify any kitchen. i usually opt for glass ones, but this marie antoinette-blue one is charming as hell.
