a few days ago, i watched the family stone and was reminded of how much i love the stone house.  while this one isn’t exactly like the one in the film, it’s equally lovely in its own right. in fact, it might be just that much better because it’s yellow!

white can be a real challenge to keep this clean; however, i’m quite fond of the idea of living in such a space that has so many clean, white lines. and let’s face it, if you’re going to rock a studio then this is the studios of all studios: claw-foot bathtub, check; room for a bed bigger than a twin: check; ample sunlight: check.

for such simple decor, there sure is a worldly feel with all those lovely tapestries. well traveled folks tend to — once they settle down, that is — deck their pads out with an overwhelming amount of international bounty to prove their well traveled; yet, i much prefer this understated, clean approach. 1 year ago / 3220 notes
just because your bathroom bears witness to you flossing gunk out of your teeth doesn’t mean it negates the feminine touches the rest of your apartment/house is need of. which is why i’m showing you this shower curtain.
and while we’re privy to a picturesque, feminine bathroom, we may as well spend a solid few minutes gushing over that mustard-colored tub. like!

an olive velvet couch has every reason to evoke my gag reflex, at least 99% of the time. yet, the above couch pictured must fall into that narrow 1% of normalcy because i’m completely smitten with the simplicity of this set-up.
i cannot be certain, but the framed picture above looks like an awesomely large, em-bronzed frame that’s filled with a cloth instead of artwork? even if that’s not the case, i think this method of quasi-colorblocking (although gray isn’t a bright color) would be a frugal and simple way to draw attention to a loud couch and decadent frame, without overwhelming the eye. 1 year ago / 109 notes
ooh! this patio is a sight of beauty with it’s matchy matchy flowers and pashmina, towel or whatever that fuchsia number is.
most people uglify their patios with heaps of outdoorsy practical crap, making it a dumping ground for outdoor clutter. not this, though; this is sweet, simple and stylish. i bet it sits on the mediterranean and overlooks some pebbly beach. 2 years ago / 1344 notes
note to self: dream kitchen looks like this lovely, rustic italian number. 2 years ago / 57 notes
i like the idea of a country cottage with a very vibrant yellow door. i further like that idea when it includes a cute mail slot and an adjacent garden that overfloweth. 2 years ago / 871 notes
feast your eyes upon this outdoor spanish haven. doesn’t this just scream it’s springtime, come play outside! a mere look at this exterior makes you want to let out a deep exhale, curl those lips into a smile and relax.
just imagine you’re walking home after a long day at work. you need to eat dinner in the next 30 minutes, otherwise you may collapse, make a few calls, and finish that work you didn’t get done. you open the door, grab your mail and look up.
wouldn’t you immediately want to drop everything, sit in a nice patio chair and listen to the waterfall (i don’t see one, but i imagine there is one) while breathing in all the healthy air those lovely greens are emitting?
i hope my next future apartment has this lovely of an exterior. 2 years ago / 20 notes
i’m always on the hunt for tasteful uses of yellow, as there seems to be a fine line between lovely and bluck. this bedroom color, with the simplicity of those dark wood floors and simple decor, the warmth of the walls isn’t overwhelmed with stuff.
this wall color is a do. 2 years ago / 47 notes
imagine this as your workplace. go ahead, try. nice, isn’t it?
makes me want to grab a steaming cup of tea, sit in that first chair on the left and read the morning paper. since that’s not exactly conducive to the idea of being at work then perhaps this decor would serve well as a ca-ute cafe?
either way, i came across flower girl nyc after reading about the owner on the modcloth blog and fell head over heels for the look of her shop. sure, this cozy decor would be too much if it were my apartment; however, it’s easy to steal tidbits and ideas from here and there as the overall aesthetic is so lovely.

as i wake up to a dark, gray and drizzly pacific northwest, i look at this warm, lovely laced oasis and wish for all that natural light. not to get demanding, but some 75 degree breeze blowing off the sea wouldn’t be too shabby either. 2 years ago / 2101 notes
